Small but nice-Hiking Guide Zermatt

Hike 1: Gornergrat – Rotenboden – Riffelberg:

With the over 100 year old Gornergrat train in ca. 50 minutes up to Gornergrat. Gornergrat has a unique view to the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa (highest summit in Switzerland), over 20 four thousand meter high peaks and 10 glaciers. With a bit of luck, rock goats can be seen near the Hotel Gornergrat. After enjoying the view, train ride down to Rotenboden. From there descend to the Riffelsee and with small climbs over meadows, where very often marmots and gentian flowers can be seen to Riffelberg and by train back to Zermatt.
Walking time approx. 45 minutes – 1½ hours, ascent 50 metres, 164 ft, descent 250 – 350 metres, 820 – 1150 ft, distance 2.2 – 3 km, 3.5 – 4.8 miles, fee CHF 480.00.

Hike 2: Findeln – Oberer-Hoehenweg – Ried – Zermatt:

With the Sunnegga-express in ca. 5 Min. up to Sunnegga. On Sunnegga the Matterhorn can be seen from its prettiest side. Passing Leisee, where marmots can be seen very often down to Findeln. Findeln is a small hamlet with over 100 years old chalets and stables. In Findeln are also 5 gourmet huts. Shortly after Findeln the path turns right to the Oberer-Hoehenweg. The path continues flat along larch and pine trees and Alpine roses to Ried, a small hamlet above Zermatt with a nice view over Zermatt. From Ried passing huts, larches and meadows back down to Zermatt.
Walking time approx. 1 hour 45 minutes, ascent 0 metres, 0 ft, descent 680 metres, 2230 ft, distance 5.5 km, 3.4 miles, fee CHF 480.00.

Hike 3: Zermatt – Furi – Zmutt – Zermatt:

From Zermatt up hill in 30 minutes to Furi, passing Blatten, Zum See (small hamlets with cozy huts, chalets and stables) and meadows. From Furi on a nice road along larch and pine trees to Zmutt. Before Zmutt a bridge has to be crossed which gives an impressive look down. Passing Chalets, meadows and trees back down to Zermatt.
Walking time approx. 2 hours, ascent 350 metres, 1150 ft, descent 350 metres, 1150 ft, distance 6.5 km, 4 miles, fee CHF 480.00.

The fee is for the mountain guide or hiking guide, doesn’t include any further services and is good for 1 or 2 people, for every additional person a fee of CHF 40.00 per person will be charged.
